Do the acupuncture needles hurt?

Many people assume that acupuncture must be painful. Fortunately, they are wrong. Normally you do not feel pain at all. Acupuncture needles are just as thin as your hair (1/17,000 – 1/18,000) of an inch in diameter. When an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin, you may feel a pinch, like a mosquito bite or slight tingling, numbness, heaviness, or tightness sensation. Overall, most patients confess to feeling relaxed during the entire treatment.
